Decolonising Palestine Book Talk with Dr. Somdeep Sen

I had the great privilege to sit down with Dr. Somdeep Sen, author of Decolonising Palestine: Hamas between the anticolonial and the postcolonial for the purposes of posing some questions to him that emerged from seminar discussions with my students in INTD 4005: The Praxis of Encampment: Settler Colonialisms in Turtle Island and Palestine. This class took form because students at the Al Zeitoun University (the multi-university student encampment on the Dalhousie Quad in the summer of 2024) had a copy of Som’s book in their library, and when we decided to build a course around studying encampment and advocating for Palestine while living and studying on stolen Indigenous territory, we included Decolonising Palestine as one of three core textbooks for the semester. Because of time-zone challenges, Dr. Sen and I agreed to record a conversation instead of a live session with students, and he generously agreed to share the discussion more broadly.
